Requirements for ordering a virtual number

Passport/ID Copy OR Business Registration Certificate (Depending on Use Case)

Identity documentation, with the required document depending on whether the number will be registered to a company or to a person. For NUMBERS REGISTERED TO A COMPANY: a company registration certificate is required. For NUMBERS REGISTERED TO A PERSON: a passport, ID, or driver's license copy is required. The submitted document must be a legible copy with text and security features readable; the company certificate must show legal name, registration number, and registered address; the passport, ID, or driver's license must show full name, photograph, document number, and a valid (unexpired) expiration date.

Worldwide Physical Address

A valid, real-world physical address located anywhere in the world. Must include street name and number, postal code (where applicable), city, region or province (where applicable), and country. The address provided must correspond to a validated physical address (e.g., as enriched via address validation in the Telnyx system). P.O. boxes, virtual office addresses, and mailbox-only services may not be acceptable depending on the order's downstream country requirements; a deliverable physical location is preferred.

Service Usage Description

A free-text description of how the phone number will be used. The description must be specific enough to identify the calling activity (e.g., inbound customer support, outbound sales, two-factor authentication, IVR, conferencing, voice broadcasting). Generic responses such as 'business use', 'voice service', or 'phone calls' are not acceptable; a specific activity must be named.

Either (a) a clear color copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued ID or passport for the individual end user (issued by the same country as the phone number); OR (b) a copy of the company registration or incorporation certificate issued by the local government registry of that same country. The choice depends on whether the end user is an individual (option a) or a business (option b). Documents from countries other than the phone number's country are not acceptable. ID/passports must show full name, photograph, date of birth, document number, and expiration date and must not be expired. Business certificates must show legal name, registration number, registration date, and registered address.

Address Matching the DID Area Code (Geographic Match)

A physical address that matches the geographic area covered by the phone number's area code. The address must include street name and number, postal/ZIP code, city, and country, and the city/region of the address must fall within the geographic area assigned to the DID's area code. Addresses outside the area code's geographic region are not acceptable for this requirement; a different (broader, national-level) address requirement must be selected if the customer cannot provide a matching local address.

A document evidencing the customer's physical address, issued within the past 3 months. Acceptable documents include utility bills (electricity, water, gas, internet, landline telephone), invoices from the current telecommunications provider, or insurance policy documents. The document must clearly show (1) the full name of the individual or registered business name (matching the order), (2) the complete physical address (street, postal code, city, country), and (3) the document issue date. Mobile phone bills, screenshots, handwritten documents, and bills older than 3 months are not acceptable.

Proof of Address (Local), with Local Activity Evidence

Provide a document dated within the past 3 months that shows the supplied local service address in the country of the phone number. Accepted documents include bank statements, government letters, tax letters, invoices, bills, utility bills, or other official documents that verify the end user’s local address. The document must show the individual’s name for personal end users, or the business name for business end users. Bank statements are an acceptable form of address verification when they show the required name, local service address, issuer, and date within the past 3 months. Leases, rental agreements, or other documents with occupancy or contract terms are not accepted.

Company Registration Number — Portugal

Enter the Company Registration Number shown on the Local Company Registration Certificate. The number must contain exactly 9 numeric characters.

Local Company Registration Certificate — Portugal

Upload an official document issued by a recognized Portuguese government authority or commercial registry confirming that the company is legally registered and authorized to conduct business in Portugal. The document must clearly display the registered legal company name, unique registration or incorporation number, date of registration or incorporation, registered business address, issuing authority, and the registry’s seal or letterhead. Submit a clear color scan or original PDF in Portuguese or English. Photographs, screenshots, and unsigned drafts are not acceptable.

Portuguese NIF (Número de Identificação Fiscal)

The Portuguese tax identification number (Número de Identificação Fiscal, NIF), also known as the Número de Contribuinte, issued by the Portuguese Autoridade Tributária. Used to identify both individuals and businesses for tax purposes in Portugal. Format: exactly 9 numeric digits with no separators. Submitted value must match the regex ^[0-9]{9}$ and must correspond to the entity named on the order. The first digit indicates the entity type (1-3 for individuals, 5 for businesses, 6 for public entities, etc.).

Contact Email Address of End Client

A valid email address for the end client (the natural person or business that will use the phone number), used for compliance follow-up. The submitted value must be a syntactically valid email address (max 150 characters) and should reach the end client directly. Generic or shared role-based addresses (e.g., info@, contact@) are acceptable but a personal address tied to the named end client is preferred.

Company Name (Full Legal Name)

The full legal name of the company associated with the phone number, exactly as registered with the relevant national company registry. The name must include any legal suffix such as 'LLC', 'Ltd.', 'GmbH', 'S.A.', 'S.r.l.', or equivalent. Maximum 150 characters, minimum 1 character. Trade names and informal abbreviations without legal status are not acceptable; the registered legal name is required.
